3 Reasons You Should Join an Improv class if you are a digital entrepreneur
4 years ago, on March 2, 2018, I entered my first improv class.
Last week I completed level 2, & am preparing for my first showcase next month. If you are an entrepreneur — you should join an improv class asap
1. Business Has No script
Improv has a magical ability to help you improvise to everything.
You aren’t thrown off when things don’t go according to plan — because you get comfortable standing in front of a room with an empty mind.
Toastmasters, the de-facto leader in promoting public speaking take the opposite approach and hyper analyses your speeches — improv is more useful on a daily basis.
- It sharpens you for meaningful future conversations
If you get in your head or are thinking about something else — your performance will suffer.
Days I meditate before class — I am able to respond to what’s in front of me. It is a good way to sharpen you up — so when it comes to networking, speaking with potential investors or promoting your business — you are in your comfort zone.
- Computers Affect Social Skills
After two hours of deep work on my laptop — I am socially retarded.
As I spend more time doing solitary activities — like working on the computer/writing and reading — my social skills falter. We are in a digital society.
Unless you make it a priority, you will lose your charisma.
